He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
