The Statute Book (Al-Furqaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Highly blessed is He, Who has sent down Al-Furqan, to His servant so that it may be a warner to all mankind: 1 The One to Whom belongs the kingship of the heavens and of the earth, and has not chosen a child, and has no partner in His kingship, and He has created everything and kept it in proper measure. 2 Yet they have chosen for themselves other deities besides Him, who do not create anything but rather are themselves created, who have no power over their own benefits, or trouble, and who have no control over life, death, and resurrection. 3 Moreover, those who are bent on denying the truth are wont to say: "This [Qur'an] is nothing but a lie, which he [himself] has devised with the help of other people, who thereupon have perverted the truth and brought a falsehood into being." 4 And they say: "Tales of the ancients, which he has caused to be written: and they are dictated before him morning and evening." 5 Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “It is sent down by Him Who knows all the secrets of the heavens and the earth; indeed He Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful." 6 And they say: "What sort of a messenger is this, who eats food, and walks through the streets? Why has not an angel been sent down to him to give admonition with him? 7 Or why is not a treasure thrown to him, or why has he not a Garden to eat of?' The evildoers say, 'You are only following a man bewitched!' 8 Look how they strike for you comparisons; but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way. 9
