We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 These men do say, 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
