The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
