When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
