S (Saad)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14
