Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
