The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
