The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
