Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
