Al-Baqarah 19 of 40
O you who believe! seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient. 153 And do not utter regarding those who are slain in Allah's cause as “dead”; in fact they are alive, but it is you who are unaware. 154 And We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient, 155 and in difficulty say, "We are the servants of God and to Him we shall all return". 156 Such are they on whom are blessings from their Lord, and mercy. Such are the rightly guided. 157 ۞ Safa and Marwa are among the waymarks of God; so whosoever makes the Pilgrimage to the House, or the Visitation, it is no fault in him to circumambulate them; and whoso volunteers good, God is All-grateful, All-knowing 158 Verily those who hide that which We have sent down of evidence and the guidance, after We have expounded it unto mankind in the Book, these! curseth them Allah, and shall curse them the cursers 159 save such as repent and make amends, and show clearly -- towards them I shall turn; I turn, All-compassionate. 160 Verily those who disbelieve, and die while they are infidels, these it is on whom shall be the curse of Allah and the angels and mankind all. 161 They will abide therein (under the curse in Hell), their punishment will neither be lightened, nor will they be reprieved. 162 Your Deity is Allah alone: there is no deity save the All-Beneficent and All-Merciful Allah. 163

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
