Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
