Have you not seen how those who dispute the signs of God are turned away? 69 Those who deny the Scripture and that wherewith We send Our messengers. But they will come to know, 70 When the fetters and chains are round their necks they shall be dragged 71 Into boiling water, then in the fire shall they be burned; 72 Then they will be asked, "Where are the idols which you worshipped besides God?" 73 They will say, "They have been lost to us; nay, we did not invoke anything before [that had real existence]." Thus God leaves the deniers of the truth to stray; 74 "That was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent. 75 Enter ye the gates of Hell as abiders therein. Hapless is the abode of the stiff-necked. 76 So be patient, surely the promise of Allah is true. So should We make you see part of what We threaten them with, or should We cause you to die, to Us shall they be returned. 77 Verily We sent messengers before thee, among them those of whom We have told thee, and some of whom We have not told thee; and it was not given to any messenger that he should bring a portent save by Allah's leave, but when Allah's commandment cometh (the cause) is judged aright, and the followers of vanity will then be lost. 78
