Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
