Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 And as for the Qasitun (disbelievers who deviated from the Right Path), they shall be firewood for Hell, 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
