Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.) 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
