And the dwellers of Al Hijr also belied the Messengers. 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 86 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 and say, "I am, indeed, a plain warner," 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 and also divided the Quran believing in some parts and rejecting others. 91 But, by thy Sustainer! [On the Day of Judgment] We shall indeed call them to account, one and all, 92 About all what they used to do. 93 Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say,] and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God: 94 For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,- 95 Who set up along with Allah another god; presently they shall know. 96 We do indeed know how your heart is distressed at what they say. 97 But glorify your Lord with His praise, and prostrate yourself: 98 And serve your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain. 99
