The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated. 2 In the nearby land, and after their defeat they will soon be victorious. 3 in a few years. All power belongs to Allah both before and after. On that day will the believers rejoice 4 with the help of God. He helps whom He pleases: He is the Mighty, and the Merciful. 5 It is a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not. 6 they only know the outward appearance of the life of this world, and they are neglectful of the Hereafter. 7 Ponder they not in their minds: Allah hath not created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain save with a purpose and for a term appointed? And verily many men in the meeting of their Lord are unbelievers. 8 Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls. 9 Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they belied the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Messengers, etc.) of Allah and made mock of them. 10
