The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
