The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this, 146 amidst gardens and fountains, 147 The fields of corn and date-palm trees with soft and tender spathes, 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 And obey not the command of the prodigal, 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They said: thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
