The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
