And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
