The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
