A numerous company from among the first, 39 and many from the later generations. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
