Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and give warning! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
