The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
