The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
