The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God! 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
