The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
