And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
