He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
