The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
