The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
