The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Do you think that you will remain here peacefully forever 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit? 148 Will you still hew your dwellings in the mountains? 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day, 155 "And touch her not with harm, lest the torment of a Great Day seize you." 156 But they hamstrung her and then regretted it. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
