The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
