۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
