And when your Lord called to Moses, saying: 'Go to the harmdoing nation, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Send forth with us the Children of Israel' 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. 33
