The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
