Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ O men, fear your Lord! Surely the earthquake of the Hour is a mighty thing; 1 The Day ye shall see it, every mother giving suck shall forget her suckling-babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load (unformed): thou shalt see mankind as in a drunken riot, yet not drunk: but dreadful will be the Wrath of Allah. 2 Among mankind is he who disputeth concerning Allah without knowledge, and followeth each froward devil; 3 About the (Evil One) it is decreed that whoever turns to him for friendship, him will he lead astray, and he will guide him to the Penalty of the Fire. 4 O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind. 5 That is because Allah is the Truth and because He gives life to the dead and because He is over all things competent 6 And because the Hour will come, there is no doubt thereof; and because Allah will raise those who are in the graves. 7 And there is one who argues concerning Allah without having knowledge nor any proof nor a clear text. 8 With his neck turned away from the truth, in order to deceive from the way of Allah; for him is disgrace in this world and on the Day of Resurrection We shall make him taste the punishment of fire. 9 (They will be told), "This is the result of what your hands have wrought. God is certainly not unjust to His servants." 10
