And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 And We have placed therein gardens of the date-palm and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein, 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 The sun, too, follows its determined course laid down for it by the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf. 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And [it ought to be] a sign for them that We bear their offspring [over the seas] in laden ships, 41 And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride. 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 Unless by mercy from Us, and as a comfort for a while. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 50
