O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful. 59 ۞ THUS IT IS: if the hypocrites, and they in whose hearts is disease, and they who, by spreading false rumours, would cause disturbances in the City [of the Prophet] desist not [from their hostile doings]; We shall indeed give thee mastery over them, [O Muhammad] - and then they will not remain thy neighbours in this [city] for more than a little while: 60 Accursed, wherever found, they shall be seized and killed with a (terrible) slaughter. 61 That hath been the dispensation of Allah with those who have passed away afore; and thou shalt not find in the dispensation of Allah any change. 62 People ask you concerning the Hour. Say," Knowledge of it is only with Allah. And what may make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near." 63 Verily Allah hath cursed the infidels, and hath gotten ready for them a Blaze. 64 therein to abide beyond the count of time: no protector will they find, and none to bring them succour. 65 Upon the day when their faces are turned about in the Fire they shall say, 'Ah, would we had obeyed God and the Messenger! 66 And they will say, “Our Lord! We followed our chiefs and our elders – so they misled us from the path!” 67 O our Lord! give them a double punishment and curse them with a great curse. 68
