۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
