The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
