(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
