He who is negligent to remember the Merciful One, to him We assign a satan as his boon companion, 36 and these satans hinder them from the Right Path, while he still reckons himself to be rightly-guided. 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 On that Day it will not profit you in the least [to know] that, since you have sinned [together,] you are now to share your suffering [as well]. 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 And if We take thee away, We shall surely take vengeance on them. 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people, and you shall soon be questioned. 44 Ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We have ever made gods, other than the Merciful, to be worshipped. 45
