By the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
