Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And the night when it departeth, 4 Is there in this an oath for one endowed with understanding? 5 (Muhammad), consider how your Lord dealt with the tribe of Ad, 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 The like of which was not created in the lands; 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 and spread much corruption in the land. 12 so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment: 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him and then is gracious and provides good things for him, he says: "My Lord has been gracious to me." 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And Hell is brought near, that day will man remember, but of what avail will then remembering be? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 But on that day shall no one chastise with (anything like) His chastisement, 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, 27 Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
