۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 And say: Are our gods better, or is he? They raise not the objection save for argument. Nay! but they are a contentious folk. 58 He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 and do not let satan prevent you, for he is your clear enemy. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 "Verily, Allah! He is my Lord (God) and your Lord (God). So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path (i.e. Allah's religion of true Islamic Monotheism)." 64 But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
