The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
