And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 Towards Firaun and his court members – in response they were haughty, and they were in dominance. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
